Teatr Emigrant has received personal permission from Serhiy Zhadan to use his work in the performance.
Solitude by Żadan & Stachura is a story about loneliness and the emotions that go with it, about accepting these as a way of knowing oneself. The actresses’ memories are intertwined with premonitions, the past with the tragic present. The performance is the continuation of Solitude (2021), based on the works of Iosif Brodsky, an emigrant-poet. Several months after the premiere, the voice of the emigrant-actresses turned out to be the voice of millions of women fleeing war. This time, their performance is based on the poems of Edward Stachura and Serhiy Zhadan, in their original languages: Polish and Ukrainian. We will see and listen to a poetic argument about whether loneliness is a sad consequence of migration or a conscious and empowering choice.
