The history of European-Turkish relations is marked by periods of mutual cultural attraction and repulsion, political conflict and cooperation, sympathy and hostility. Invariably, it is a history of mutual interpenetration. For a long time, Turkey was perceived as a bridge between the East and the West. Is this still the case? We will examine Turkey’s position regarding the migration crisis of 2015, its migration policy and its role in the Russian-Ukrainian war. What determines the current relations between Europe and Turkey?  What deals is Europe making with the country of Atatürk? Is Turkey still looking towards the West?
