A tapestry, otherwise known as an arras or wall rug, is a picture made of fabric, usually hanging on walls as decoration in houses. It is made in many cultures, using various methods. We will make tapestries our own way. We will use not only canvas, but also other materials, such as leaves, grass, flowers and cereals, to capture the scent of summer and the approaching holidays. We will gently thread together the useful and the symbolic, the artificial and the natural, the vivid and the calm. We will be imaginative and meditative, because the art of traditional artistic weaving is a true tactile meditation.
A workshop for people aged 14 and over.
