Until the 20th century, the world was colonised by Europe, as far as allocating hierarchy and rights were concerned. It was Europe that determined the centre of the world: in politics, economy and culture. How is artistic geography changing under the influence of decolonisation and globalisation? Are we still allowed to talk about culture in terms of “centre” and “periphery”? Is European culture decolonising? If so, in which fields and in what specific ways? What problems and paradoxes are associated with this process of transforming cultural diversity in literature, art and theatre?
