Callar y quemarse, or Keep quiet and burn is an installation inspired by Federico Garcia Lorca’s play Bloody wedding. The reality presented in the drama overlaps with the times in which Lorca lived and created – the 1930s in Spain, when the fascists came to power – and today’s actual events. The circumstances of the tragic death that crowned the poet’s short life may be the key to understanding his artistic world, where desire fights with morality, and forbidden love (not only heterosexual) destroys individuals and has a destructive effect on society that stigmatize freedom, diversity and independence.
